This program has the prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for 1.5 CEUs in the category B. Granting of prior approval in no way constitutes endorsement by AAPC of the program content or the program sponsor. Coders may claim all of their CEUs from curriculum A. If a coder chooses to submit CEUs approved as curriculum B, these may comprise up to one-third of total core credential CEUs (for example, 12 of 36 CEUs required for a CPC renewal).

Federal EHR incentives continue to press forward, as HHS released its first proposed rules for the program on January 13. Over 600 pages of federal regulations provide significant details regarding incentive payments and timelines, qualifying criteria and Meaningful Use definitions, measures and objectives. As federal timelines front-load incentives into the first two years of participation, those who begin making plans now will be better able to see the largest and earliest payments, beginning in 2011. This webinar offers practice administrators a clear explanation of what is known and an opportunity to get a head start on determining their eligibility, identifying appropriate solutions, and preparing their office for the road ahead.

| Modifiers are a part of CPT and, ultimately, a reimbursement that is often overlooked and misunderstood by coders, practice management and payers alike. Modifiers are integral to the correct coding of services, adding that extra information needed to qualify the services provided for the patient. Yet, when improperly used or, worse yet, improperly processed, they affect reimbursement dramatically. This webinar will look at modifiers and their role in coding and reimbursement. The definitions of modifiers, how to use them and how each modifier effects reimbursement will be examined. This will be of particular interest given that modifier definitions will be changing somewhat with CPT in 2010.
Learning Points
Attendees gain a greater understanding of:
-- What each modifier means
-- How to determine when to use a modifier
-- Ordering modifiers when multiple modifiers apply
-- What needs to be documented to support each different modifier
-- Examples of when the various modifiers are used with specific clinical examples
-- Applications of how they factor into the appeals process when working with third party payers
-- The impact of modifiers on reimbursement for the practice
-- Fraud and abuse implications of improper use of modifiers
-- Global Package (AMA versus Medicare)
-- The role in Appeals for appropriate reimbursement

| This webinar will introduce the practice manager to several new software and hardware techniques that can cut staffing costs, provide better patient flow, and replace lost revenue from common areas.
We will illustrate ways to:
-- Let patients check themselves in without reducing counter collections, just like Southwest Airlines.
-- Better manage the countless patient visits for allergy treatments without the help of a single staff member by utilizing easy-to-use scanning technology.
-- Effectively use the various tools of phone calls, SMS texting, and emails to provide a comprehensive reminder system for patient appointments.
-- Turn your appointment reminder system into another “collector” of delinquent accounts.
-- Add a simple tool to capture patient satisfaction data at check-out.
-- And much, much more…
