This program has the prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) for 1.5 CEUs in the category B. Granting of prior approval in no way constitutes endorsement by AAPC of the program content or the program sponsor. Coders may claim all of their CEUs from curriculum A. If a coder chooses to submit CEUs approved as curriculum B, these may comprise up to one-third of total core credential CEUs (for example, 12 of 36 CEUs required for a CPC renewal).

Office staff plays an important role as part of every medical team and has a huge impact on the physician-patient relationship, as well as patient satisfaction. In their efforts to assist their employers, staff members can also expose themselves and physicians to unnecessary liability and risk. In this program, Medical Insurance Exchange of California Loss Prevention Manager Claudia Dobbs will provide some insight and make recommendations about how staff members can help their physician-employers rather than harm them. Topics that will be covered include: common allegations against ENTs; medical advice (what?s legal and what?s not); confidentiality (communication about patients, in front of patients, when requested by family members); and communication styles that promote patient satisfaction ? the Number One deterrent to litigation.
